27-year-old K. Mbappe has not yet won the prestigious “Ballon d’Or” award, but he says this year could be different.

“I think when you play for Real Madrid, which is the best club in the world, it’s natural that people associate you with such awards – both team and individual,” K. Mbappe told journalists. “Many people, when they meet me on the street, talk about the ‘Ballon d’Or,’ many mention me as a possible winner of this award.
Of course, I made quite a bit of history at the most important sports tournament this summer, but we’ll see. I feel this year could be good for that, but there is still a lot of time before voting, and people can choose whoever they consider the best footballer in the world.”

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho recently said he would prefer to see K. Mbappe score fewer goals but work more for the team and help it win trophies.
The Frenchman said he would agree to more modest personal statistics if it meant titles, but emphasized that these things do not contradict each other.
“Yes, I would choose 30 goals and titles, but this discussion seems absurd to me,” K. Mbappe said. “I always want to score goals and win trophies. There is no need to choose – you can do both.”
