“Burning bridges cannot wait for better times, but we understand that their repair is a huge financial challenge for municipalities. Therefore, we are doing everything to move decisions forward and are opening an additional KPPP fund for these works,” said Minister Juras Taminskas in a statement.
Currently, KPPP funds allocated for state-important local objects can only be used for local roads needed for transit traffic or national defense.
KPPP funds allocated for financing state-important local roads amount to about 18.5 million euros in 2026. Now it will be possible to select local roads financed in 2027 by including bridges and viaducts in the list.
As BNS wrote in March, out of the 436.4 million euros planned for the KPPP program for road maintenance, repair, and development, 230 million euros are allocated for state roads this year, and 206 million euros for local roads.
