Officers determined that the distribution of narcotic and psychotropic substances in the city and district of Jurbarkas intensified using the so-called “drop” method. The substances were buried or attached with magnets in public places, and information about their location was passed on to buyers.

Responding to the identified threats and after conducting a large-scale information analysis, officers identified a resident of Jurbarkas city who is suspected of hiding and distributing narcotic substances in this way in the Jurbarkas district.
During the pre-trial investigation actions, it was established that the suspect could have distributed narcotic substances not only in Jurbarkas but also in Marijampolė, Vilkaviškis, and other cities. Data was also collected indicating that “drops” were often left near educational institution territories, making narcotic substances more accessible to students.
After gathering sufficient data about the possible criminal activity, an operation to detain the suspect was carried out on July 14, 2026.
During the search of the detained person, many vacuum packages – already prepared “drops” – suspected to contain cocaine and cannabis were found in the pockets of his clothes. A considerable number of such packages were also found in the suspect’s car.
During a search of a garage used by the person in Jurbarkas city, officers also found two vacuum packages with a suspected narcotic substance – cocaine.

In total, during the operation, Jurbarkas district police officers found about 150 grams of suspected cocaine and about 100 grams of a suspected narcotic substance – cannabis.
A pre-trial investigation was initiated at the Jurbarkas district police commissariat under Article 260 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. The investigation is led by the Marijampolė District Prosecutor’s Office of the Kaunas Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
By court decision, the detained resident of Jurbarkas city was assigned the strictest preventive measure – detention.
Edgaras Charisovas, head of the Jurbarkas district police commissariat, emphasizes that public assistance is extremely important in the fight against narcotic substance distributors.
Residents are asked to pay attention to suspiciously behaving individuals – those who bury something, hide, attach or leave unclear objects near various sites or in public places. If such activity is noticed, it is requested to report it immediately to the police officers.
