The fire was reported at 12:23. The accident occurred in the Alytus district, Butrimonys, at a wood processing company located on Margirio Street.

As stated to journalists by Edita Zdanevičienė, a representative of the Fire Protection and Rescue Department (PAGD), an open flame ignited a closed-cycle high-pressure wood dryer at the company. Three fire trucks were dispatched to the scene to extinguish the fire.
Due to the specific technological process and the high pressure inside the dryer, active firefighting efforts could not be carried out for two hours. Only at 14:29 was it possible to open the dryer and firefighters could begin cooling it down.

Thanks to the firefighters’ efforts, the fire did not spread to other company premises. There is no information about any injured persons.
