They all started taking those boxes, shaking them, trying to guess what was inside. Then we read an announcement that lost parcels from “Amazon” could be purchased here starting from 5 euros. While we were there, three or four people bought them in a very short time. Mostly children,” said Vilnius resident Margarita.
It didn’t take long for a 15min journalist to confirm that these goods attract the attention of passersby. While visiting, the pile of supposedly lost parcels was surrounded by a group of potential buyers. One of them explained to his companion nearby that it’s like a lottery – you buy without knowing what’s inside.
Another passerby lifted one parcel after another, trying to guess what was inside: “This one is very light, it will be some kind of necklace. And this one is heavy, 25 Eur, that’s a pity.”
However, Margarita’s son noticed that the packages did not look like they had normally traveled by mail – there were no recipient or sender details, address labels, or other marks typical for shipping. But the 15min journalist noticed that some envelopes showed signs that certain stickers had been removed. Still, the “Amazon” name was clearly visible on the packages.
Could these really be missing “Amazon” parcels?
An “Amazon” representative dispelled doubts. Some returned goods from buyers may be passed on, but all “Amazon” packaging and labels must be removed beforehand.
