According to the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service (“Meteo LT”), Thursday will indeed be warm. The chance of rain is small, but there will be fog in some places at night. At night, the temperature will reach 11-16 degrees, while during the day it will jump to 24-29 degrees. The wind will be weak.
On Friday, the last day of July, a much more varied bouquet of weather phenomena awaits.
It will rain in many places during the day, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong gusts of wind, with wind speeds reaching 15-17 m/s. However, it will be hot: although the temperature at night will be 12-17 degrees, during the day it will jump to 27-32 degrees. Only in the western edge of the country will it be somewhat less – 23-26 degrees.
On Friday, a yellow thunderstorm warning will be in effect in almost all of Lithuania, except for Klaipėda and Telšiai counties.
As indicated on the “Meteo LT” map, the warning will apply to Vilnius, Alytus, Utena, Panevėžys, Kaunas, Šiauliai, Marijampolė, and Tauragė counties.

It also provides the recommendation: “Stay indoors during lightning. Unplug household appliances from the power source and do not use electrical outlets. If you are outside, find shelter, do not stay in open areas, near isolated trees, metal poles, and do not run. Be prepared for possible power outages. If you are traveling by car, close the windows and stay inside.”
On Saturday night, it will rain in some places as well. During the day, the rains, although short, will be widespread, and in some places heavy, with thunderstorms in some areas. And the heat will be significantly less, up to 22-27 degrees, only 19-21 degrees on the coast.
In Poland, meteorologists say this heat wave is expected to be long – at least until next Friday, August 7. In Lithuania, according to today’s forecasts, the heat will also return next week. It will be cooler only on Sunday and Monday. On Tuesday, Vilnius should again have 28, Kaunas and Klaipėda – 27, Šiauliai and Panevėžys – 25 degrees.
