21-year-old Lithuanian ranked 128th in the ATP ranking won a crucial match against the much more experienced Brazilian Thiago Monteiro (ATP-303).

The match, which lasted one and a half hours, required two tiebreaks, both of which V. Gaubas won – 7:6(7), 7:6(5).
This victory secured not only a ticket to the semifinals for the Lithuanian but also 35 ranking points and a check for 10.6 thousand euros.
In the fight for the final, V. Gaubas will face the tournament favorite, Argentine Facundo Diaz (ATP-107).

It is worth noting that this was already the third head-to-head match between V. Gaubas and Th. Monteiro and the first victory.
The year before last, the Brazilian won 7:5, 6:3, and last year – 1:6, 6:2, 6:3.
Th. Monteiro was the world’s second-ranked junior in 2012. Stars such as Carlos Alcaraz, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud, Holger Rune, and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga have fallen to his shots.
His highest ATP ranking was 61st in 2022.
