The accident was reported to the services at 10:30 a.m.
Firefighters tried to resuscitate the woman, but unsuccessfully.
A dog was also found dead at the fire site.
A man driving by in a car saw a private house on Beržyno Street engulfed in smoke. The witness immediately called 112.

Edita Zdanevičienė, senior specialist of the Communications Department of the Fire Protection and Rescue Department (PAGD), informed 15min that three rescue tanker crews were immediately dispatched to the specified address, and firefighters rushed to enter the smoke-filled premises with respiratory protection devices. The homeowner was found unconscious in one of the rooms.
The injured woman was immediately carried outside by officers. Along with medics, attempts were made to resuscitate the elderly homeowner, but at 10:51 a.m. death had to be confirmed. The fire did not spread; by 11 a.m. the fire was fully extinguished.

The deceased homeowner’s pet was also found in the burned house.
The investigation into the exact causes and circumstances of the accident was only beginning on Friday morning.
