Today, short rains with thunderstorms are expected in many places, with heavy rain in some areas. A southeast, south wind of 7–12 m/s will blow, with gusts strengthening to 15–17 m/s during thunderstorms in some places. The temperature during the day will reach 19–24 degrees.
Which regions will receive the most rain?
According to Meteo.lt data, short-term downpours will begin to form in Lithuania on Friday afternoon, accompanied by thunderstorms in some places. The most intense precipitation is expected in the districts of Panevėžys, Utena, Marijampolė, Kaunas, Vilnius, and Alytus.
In the evening, rain clouds will strengthen and move across the central part of Lithuania, so very heavy rain may fall in some places in a short period.

Later in the evening and during the first half of the night, heavy rain will move to the Kaunas region and the southeastern part of the country. During the night, precipitation will gradually move east, so the areas of Vilnius, Švenčionys, Utena, Panevėžys, and Biržai will receive the most rain. In some parts of eastern Lithuania, the rain will remain intense even in the early morning.
The Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service has issued a yellow-level warning for thunderstorms in many regions of the country. The probability of thunderstorms is highest in the central, southern, and eastern parts of Lithuania – in the counties of Kaunas, Vilnius, Panevėžys, Utena, Alytus, and Marijampolė. Short but intense rains, thunderstorms, and in some places wind gusts strengthening up to 15–17 m/s are expected here.
Meanwhile, in western Lithuania – in the counties of Klaipėda, Telšiai, Šiauliai, and Tauragė – the risk of dangerous meteorological phenomena is lower, so a green warning level is in effect in these territories. Forecasters urge residents to monitor the latest information, as thunderstorms can be severe in some places and form quite quickly.
