At the stadium, the match was watched by R. Pukstas’ grandparents and other relatives, and the footballer also revealed that his father is a loyal fan of Vilnius “Žalgiris”.
However, R. Pukstas’ decision to run to celebrate near the stands ended with objects being thrown at him – including a plastic beer cup.
Fortunately, the situation did not escalate. R. Pukstas soon raised his hands as if apologizing, and was shortly after substituted.
Both of Roko’s parents are Lithuanians, well-known athletes in the country who emigrated to the USA. His father Mindaugas, a former marathon runner, represented Lithuania at the 2004 Athens Olympics (finished 74th), and his mother Živilė is a multiple Lithuanian triple jump champion.
The “Hajduk” club, dominant in Vilnius, won the first match against “Žalgiris” 5:2 and created a very solid advantage ahead of the return match next week in Split.
