A. Pavelko is accused of organizing a scheme through which almost UAH 295 million (EUR 5.8 million) was embezzled from the federation’s funds. It is suspected that this was done through fictitious goods supply contracts.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, funds belonging to the Federation were embezzled through contracts for the supply of seafood, tea, coffee, and equipment. It was found that these goods did not actually exist.

The arrest took place in Bratislava. Ukrainian authorities sent a letter to Slovak authorities stating their intention to submit an extradition request and ask for his temporary detention.
P. Pavelko led the Ukrainian Football Federation from March 2015, and later the organization became the Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF).
In January 2024, Andriy Shevchenko was elected president of the UAF.
In November 2022, P. Pavelko was charged in a case of embezzlement of funds, and by the end of 2025, he was included in the list of wanted persons by pre-trial investigation bodies.
