“Deceptive messages can appear convincing – they use the company name, logo, or a profile similar to the official account. Scammers may also write from accounts of seemingly real individuals, pose as intermediaries, invite to join groups, or fill out forms. However, such messages are often revealed by requests to click on suspicious links, urgently complete surveys, or provide personal data,” says Ernesta Vareikytė, Head of Media Relations at Maxima.
She explains how to recognize fraud, what is important to check, and how to act when encountering scammers.

What is important to know:
1. Maxima never asks for personal information, passwords, or login details for banking services.
2. Any contest or information can be verified on the official company website or by contacting Maxima’s customer service at tel. +370 800 200 50 or by email klientai@maxima.lt.
3. Scammers often operate from accounts with names very similar to real company accounts, for example, “Maxima Lietuva.fans.” However, the official Maxima Facebook page is only one – named “Maxima LT.”
4. Maxima has no intermediaries and does not conduct contests or offers through private personal accounts or unofficial groups.
How to recognize the most common fraud cases:
1. They are usually accompanied by requests to provide personal data, such as bank card numbers, passwords, etc.
2. Scammers urge to act as quickly as possible, e.g., “confirm your registration by completing the survey and providing your email address. Don’t miss this limited opportunity.”

3. Posts, messages, and announcements often contain grammatical errors – false information is frequently presented in incorrect language or with unusual words that are not typical for official company communications.
What to do if you click on a scammer’s link:
1. If the link requested your personal information – immediately change your passwords.
2. If you provided financial data, immediately inform your bank and, if necessary, block your accounts.
3. If you encountered a fraud case in the name of Maxima, inform the customer service department at tel. +370 800 200 50 or by email klientai@maxima.lt.
4. If you have already been affected – report it to the police as soon as possible using the electronic services portal.
“Be cautious and critically evaluate the information you receive – whenever you have any doubts about the authenticity of a letter or link, it is best to contact Maxima’s customer service directly to verify whether such a contest is really being organized. On our part, we actively monitor social networks ourselves; when we detect a fake profile or account, we block it, share information preventively on our pages, and the virtual police patrol also gets involved,” shares E. Vareikytė, Head of Media Relations at Maxima.
