On Saturday, our compatriot Vilius Gaubas, who began his preparation for the hard court US Open qualifiers, became a training partner of one of the best players on the planet.
The 21-year-old tennis player from Šiauliai has been training with the Spanish tennis wunderkind for several years now and has previously talked about it with foreign media.
“We had several very intense training sessions. It was a lot of fun. I was still a bit shy to ask Carlos questions, but he was very friendly. He asked how I was doing, what my upcoming tournaments would be. Having a simple conversation with him already meant a lot to me,” Gaubas said at the time.
Having been without tennis for four months, C. Alcaraz is still on the list of US Open tournament participants, but no official news about the tennis player’s appearance in New York has been released yet.

However, there are increasing doubts in the tennis world about whether the Best of 5 format in the Grand Slam tournaments is the most suitable for Carlos to return after such a serious injury.
