On Sunday evening in the Kėdainiai district, special services were alerted by an automatic emergency system “eCall” notification about a possible traffic accident. The coordinates of the notification indicated that the incident might have occurred in Mantviliškis village, Dotnuva eldership, on Liepupio street.

Police officers and firefighters rushed immediately to the indicated location. Upon arrival, it was found that an “Audi Q7” car had veered off the road into a ditch.

However, there were no people in or near the vehicle. It was determined that the driver left the accident scene after the traffic incident.

To ensure safety, firefighters disconnected the vehicle’s battery.

According to the Kaunas County Chief Police Commissariat, the person driving the car has not yet been identified. Administrative proceedings have been initiated regarding the incident under Article 426, Part 1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Lithuania.

This provision of the Code provides liability for leaving the scene of a traffic accident in violation of the Road Traffic Rules. Officers are investigating the circumstances of the accident and searching for the driver.
