The investigation began after 12 liters of liquid narcotics were seized at Buenos Aires airport in June.

There were 27 raids, and 11 people were arrested. Drugs, money, cars, and mobile phones were confiscated in the Argentine capital.

On August 28, the gang leader Pablo “Bebote” Alvarez was arrested. He was charged with transporting synthetic drugs from Spain and cocaine from Bolivia.

Investigating the confiscated phones revealed that the gangsters mentioned Sergio Aguero’s name several times.

The 38-year-old footballer retired in 2021 but remains a big star in Argentina, not only for playing in the national team but also for representing major European clubs – Madrid’s Atlético, Manchester City, Barcelona.

According to “Clarin,” the gangsters tried for several months to recruit S. Aguero for their plans.

Officials determined that the criminals planned to launder money through two companies that would sell tickets for lower football leagues, and S. Aguero was supposed to become the face of one such ticket platform.

There was correspondence about how everything would work, but there is no evidence that any agreement took place or that S. Aguero knew who he was dealing with.

As “Clarin” writes, the footballer’s representatives assured that S. Aguero often receives similar offers but has not agreed to participate in such a deal.
