“Another bombshell – the coaching staff is joined by Aidenas Malašinskas to assist Miglius Astrauskas! Congratulations on joining! – Klaipėda “Dragūnas” club, which defended the Lithuanian champions title last May, announced on their Facebook page on Tuesday.
40-year-old A. Malašinskas is the most prolific handball player of the Lithuanian national team of all time.
The Utena native debuted in the national team back in January 2007, at the age of 20.
A. Malašinskas has had an impressive career not only in the national team but also in clubs. Starting his career in 2005 with Kaunas “Lūšis” team, the playmaker quickly climbed the career ladder and, after moving to Kaunas “Granitas,” shone brightly in the Champions League and later continued his career in famous clubs in Spain, Ukraine, Germany, and Romania.

The brightest stage in A. Malašinskas’s career was representing Zaporizhzhia “Motor” team, when the Ukrainian team leader was repeatedly selected for the Champions League symbolic team of the round. Already at 36, the Lithuanian signed a contract with the “Melsungen” club and fulfilled another of his dreams – to play in the strongest national European championship – the German “Bundesliga.”
Last season, A. Malašinskas represented the “Vaslui” club, completing his third season in Romania.
In the list of the most valuable handball players of the Romanian championship, he took 4th place, scoring 71 goals and making as many as 87 assists in 20 matches. According to this indicator, A. Malašinskas was unbeatable throughout the championship.
