After the murder on Wednesday – a strict court verdict on Friday

Today, the court granted the request of the Panevėžys District Prosecutor’s Office prosecutor and ordered detention for a maximum period of three months for two individuals suspected of murder in the Panevėžys district.

On the evening of July 15, paramedics called to Liūdynė village in the Panevėžys district could no longer help a middle-aged resident of the Pasvalys district – the man was dead.

Forensic experts determined that the death was violent, and a pre-trial investigation into the murder was initiated, led by prosecutor Vaida Baranauskienė of the Criminal Prosecution Division of the Panevėžys District Prosecutor’s Office, with the investigation conducted by officers of the Serious Crimes Investigation Department of the Criminal Police of the Panevėžys County Chief Police Commissariat.

According to preliminary data, the man suffered fatal injuries while visiting two men aged 53 and 38 living in a farmer’s dwelling in Liūdynė, where a drinking party was taking place. It is suspected that a conflict arose and these individuals beat the guest.

The prosecutor leading the pre-trial investigation today applied to the Panevėžys District Court, Panevėžys branch, requesting the detention of both suspects for 3 months. The court fully granted the prosecutor’s request.

According to the presumption of innocence, a person is considered innocent until their guilt is proven according to the law and recognized by a final court judgment.
