The police reported that a 23-year-old woman was found hiding in a closet. She was detained under an extradition order issued by Lithuania.

According to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), officers “found a woman hiding in a closet”.
The woman is wanted in Lithuania to serve a prison sentence for serious sexual offenses against a child committed in the Mažeikiai district.
On Thursday, she is to appear before the Laganside extradition court.
PSNI International Policing Unit Sergeant Davey said:
“Despite all this fugitive’s efforts to hide and avoid the consequences of her actions, she was arrested today. Today’s arrest confirms our commitment to relentlessly pursue criminals and assist victims.”

He added that this is “another example” of how the PSNI “searches for, arrests, and brings to court individuals wanted in Europe for serious crimes”.
The same unit’s superintendent Marty Reid stated that the PSNI is “committed to finding fugitives and assisting European law enforcement partners”.
He also noted that the police are increasingly cooperating with the UK Joint International Crime Centre, as well as with international organizations Interpol and Europol, to ensure justice for victims both in Northern Ireland and beyond.
