T.Boehly and M.Walter each held 12.83% of the club’s shares, while Clearlake Capital previously owned 61.5% of Chelsea’s shares. After this deal, the company now owns 87.16% of the London club’s shares.
The remaining portion was retained by Swiss philanthropist Hansjorg Wyss.
These four shareholders bought the Chelsea club in 2022, when former club shareholder Roman Abramovich faced sanctions due to his ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin after Russia launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine, and lost the right to manage the London club.

Chelsea was then purchased for £2.5 billion (about €2.9 billion), and the buyers committed to invest an additional £1.75 billion (more than €2 billion) into the club.
According to The Financial Times, T.Boehly and M.Walter, who sold their shares in the club, will receive £950 million (more than €1.1 billion). Chelsea is currently valued at approximately £5 billion (about €5.8 billion).

T.Boehly has so far served as Chelsea’s CEO and made key decisions, but he will now have to leave this position.
