According to the criminal case data, on May 18 of this year, during a public court hearing at the Kaunas District Court, the accused, disagreeing with the judge’s decision, publicly insulted the presiding judge and showed disrespect to the court. The man did not respond to the judge’s warnings to maintain order during the court session – he continued to use obscene language and threw a document folder at the judge.
This incident was previously reported by 15min. It was stated that Remigijus Meška threw the folder. The person, previously convicted 9 times for violent, property-related, and drug-related crimes, demanded the removal of the judge hearing the case during the session.
“Meška asked to remove the judge, he stated the reasons why he wanted that. When he was told that the judge would not be removed, he then threw his folder and hit it so hard that the glass broke,” said the court representative at the time.
“The police arrived, questioned witnesses, and inspected the scene,” she noted.
According to the pre-trial investigation data, continuing his actions, the accused twice struck the glass of the temporary detention room with his hand. One glass of the detention room with its frame was damaged by the blows. Such actions caused property damage worth 363 euros. It is believed that these actions disrupted the court session, public peace, and order.
The man was charged under Article 232 “Disrespect to the court” and Article 284 “Violation of public order” of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania.
The Criminal Code provides for the harshest penalty for violation of public order and disrespect to the court – imprisonment for up to two years.

The criminal case has been transferred for consideration to the Kaunas branch of the Kaunas District Court.
