This happened a few days after both sides announced a conditional ceasefire following negotiations in the US.

“Several servicemen, including an officer, were martyred during a barbaric Israeli raid targeting a military vehicle on the Kardalio-Nabatiyah road,” the Lebanese army said in a statement posted on social network “X”.
A ceasefire, which was supposed to end fighting in Lebanon between Israel and the Iranian-backed militant group Hezbollah, came into effect on April 17, but it was not observed.
Hezbollah and Israel frequently exchanged accusations of ceasefire violations, with each side justifying its attacks by alleged violations committed by the other side.
This week in Washington, Lebanese and Israeli envoys announced another conditional ceasefire.
Under it, Hezbollah would cease fire, withdraw from the territory near the Israeli border, and the Lebanese army would be deployed in new “buffer zones” in the area, where it would exercise exclusive control.
However, Hezbollah rejected the agreement and demanded that Israel completely withdraw from Lebanese territory.
On Saturday, Israel renewed evacuation orders for five villages in southern and eastern Lebanon, telling residents to move north of the Zahrani River.

“Given that the terrorist Hezbollah violated the ceasefire agreement, the IDF (Israeli army) is forced to act against it with force,” Israeli army spokesman in Arabic Avichay Adraee (Avičajus Adrajis) announced on Telegram.
Lebanon was drawn into a wider war in the Middle East when Hezbollah attacked Israel on March 2, in retaliation for the assassination of Iran’s supreme leader on February 28.
Israel responded with a large-scale air strike campaign in Lebanon and a ground invasion.
Iran insists that Lebanon be included in any agreement with the US to end the wider war.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun (Žozefas Aunas) said in an interview with CNN broadcast on Friday that Iran must stop interfering in Lebanon’s affairs.
“This is not your country, this is our country,” he said. “It is not your business to interfere in our country.”
“They are using Lebanon as a bargaining chip with the US. This is unacceptable,” he added.
“Hezbollah must understand that there is no other way but to sit down and talk, there is no other way to solve this problem and preserve what is left, except through negotiations and diplomacy,” Aoun added.
