About 270 million euros will be allocated for the renovation of apartment buildings – enough to renovate 37 thousand apartments across Lithuania.
Another 100 million euros are earmarked for the renovation of single and two-apartment houses, and 35 million euros for the construction or acquisition of 278 new A++ energy efficiency class social housing units.
According to the Ministry, most of the support will go to residents receiving heating compensation – up to 85% of renovation costs will be covered for them.
“The investments foreseen in the plan will be allocated to those who most need help to reduce energy consumption, heating costs, and improve living conditions,” said Minister Kastytis Žuromskas in a statement.
According to him, 67% of the country’s residential buildings are of low energy efficiency class.
By 2032, Lithuania intends to invest about 884 million euros from the Social Climate Fund, of which 663 million euros will be contributed by the EU.
