Vilnius police detectives have detained a man suspected of robberies carried out in the capital

After the victims withdrew cash, the man followed them to their residence or more remote places, where, choosing the right moment, he approached from behind and, using physical violence and depriving them of the ability to resist, robbed wallets with money, payment cards, and other valuables.

According to data collected by officers, the criminal acts were carried out in different districts of the capital to complicate the identification of the suspect.

During intensive pre-trial investigation actions and analyzing information significant to the investigation, officers managed to identify the suspect and detain him. It was established that the detainee had previously been convicted for similar criminal acts.

The suspect was served a notice of suspicion for committing three criminal acts. Officers continue pre-trial investigation actions and analyze the available data to determine whether this person could have committed more similar criminal acts.

The court, having evaluated data characterizing the suspect and the systematic nature and danger of the possibly committed crimes, imposed the strictest preventive measure on him – detention.
