On Sunday, May 31, at about 1 PM, police officers patrolling Bauska district and traveling on the main road “A7” in the direction of Bauska, detected a motorcycle with their service vehicle’s radar, which was traveling at a speed of 126 kilometers per hour, although the permitted speed was only 70 km per hour.
In addition, the symbols on the vehicle’s license plate were covered with a sticker.
Officers decided to stop the vehicle.
After activating the siren and turning the service vehicle in the opposite direction, it was found that the motorcycle driver had already increased speed and started to drive away.
Upon entering the residential area in Iecava, the police crew tried to block the path of the fleeing motorcyclist, but the roadblock failed, and the man continued to flee through the town of Iecava on Riga Street, thus creating several dangerous situations and violating several traffic rules.
State Police officers repeatedly demanded the vehicle to stop in Latvian and English, but the motorcyclist did not react and continued to flee, increasing speed.

The chase continued on the highway towards Riga, where the motorcyclist had to slow down due to heavy traffic. After stopping the moving motorcycle, it turned out that the driver was an Estonian citizen.
State Police officers initiated six administrative offense proceedings against the man for exceeding the speed limit, for covering the state license plate, and for aggressive driving. The man was fined 6700 euros and had his driving license revoked for three years.

A criminal case was also initiated against the man for violating traffic rules.
