Under a non-binding memorandum of understanding, the company “will aim to start manufacturing Chery International UK passenger cars at the plant, on the first production line, in the 2027 financial year,” Nissan said in a statement.
The Sunderland plant will remain wholly owned by Nissan, and plant employees will be hired by the Japanese company, the statement said.
