During the meeting, K. Budrys emphasized that Lithuania is ready to strengthen cooperation with the United States in the field of critical minerals and intends to join the “Pax Silica” declaration.

“Lithuania aims to be a reliable partner of the United States in creating resilient and secure supply chains. We see great potential to expand cooperation in critical minerals, advanced technologies, and semiconductors, which are essential for both economic security and strengthening defense capabilities,” the minister said in a statement released by the ministry on Saturday.
He emphasized that cooperation among like-minded partners must cover the entire technology value chain – from critical raw materials and energy to semiconductors, advanced technologies, and artificial intelligence.
“Today, competitiveness and security are determined by the ability to ensure the resilience of the entire technology value chain. Therefore, we must cooperate more closely with reliable partners and jointly invest in innovation, science, and industrial development,” K. Budrys stressed.

As BNS reported, this week the minister signed a bilateral foundational agreement on cooperation in the field of critical minerals with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Lithuania aims to contribute to the agreement’s goals with its expertise in high-tech manufacturing, advanced technologies, critical material processing, and logistics.
Similar agreements with the U.S. have already been signed by Poland, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, Malaysia, and other countries. The European Union also signed a corresponding memorandum with the United States in April of this year.
