Talino Airport in May – passenger number record

Compared to May last year, the number of passengers increased by 13 percent. This growth was driven by both a 10% increase in the number of available seats and a higher average aircraft load factor.

“We are very pleased to see that despite challenging external circumstances, the summer season started very successfully. Although just two months ago the price of aviation fuel and its possible availability in the market caused a lot of uncertainty, the situation has now stabilized. Moreover, passengers have responded very well to the new routes, which confirms that the demand for flights will remain high throughout the summer season,” said Eero Pargmae, a member of the board of the Tallinn Airport operator.

The biggest impact on the growth in passenger numbers was made by the rapidly expanding Hungarian low-cost airline “Wizz Air” operating in Tallinn. Last year, this airline offered only one direct route from Tallinn, but this year it already flies to eight cities: Budapest, Gdansk, Krakow, London, Rome, Warsaw, Venice, and Vilnius. Flights to the Albanian capital Tirana will start in June. “Wizz Air” has significantly expanded Tallinn Airport’s flight route network, especially to Eastern Europe, and has also opened new travel opportunities to Italy.
