“At 14:44 it was reported that a tree fell on the reporter’s Škoda car in the parking lot. The car was damaged. A Toyota car parked nearby was also damaged. There may be more damaged cars. Later it was clarified that an Opel car was also damaged,” said the capital’s police representative Loreta Kairienė.
The firefighters from the Fire and Rescue Department were not needed at the scene – representatives of “Grinda” were tasked with removing the tree from the vehicles.

Rolandas, who witnessed the incident, also contacted 15min. According to him, the tree broke unexpectedly. He also added that the car owners will likely have to accept the losses since the damaged vehicles are only insured with civil liability insurance.
“There was a huge crash and the tree fell. There was no wind at all. The tree is young, healthy. How it could have fallen, not dried out, without wind, I have no explanation. People will not be compensated for anything because they do not have comprehensive insurance,” said Rolandas.
