The EIB loan will be invested in modernizing and expanding port infrastructure, clean energy infrastructure, dual-use solutions that will enable more efficient logistical support for allied naval vessels.
“The Port of Klaipėda is one of Lithuania’s strategic infrastructure links – it ensures important national economic, energy, and security interests. The signed European Investment Bank financing provides an important impetus to implement projects that shape the port’s present and future – from the construction of the dual-use Cruise Ship Terminal, quay electrification to other solutions that enhance competitiveness, sustainability, and resilience,” emphasizes Algis Latakas, General Director of the Klaipėda State Seaport Authority.

The EIB loan will cover up to half of the project costs, with a total value of about 200 million euros. The granted loan will ensure the Port of Klaipėda’s ability to increase operational capacity, achieve set green goals, and enhance Lithuania’s attractiveness. The financing provided by the EIB demonstrates significant trust from the international financial institution in the development strategy of the Port of Klaipėda and its importance to the region.

The Port of Klaipėda is part of the EU’s Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). Modernized quays and other port infrastructure will further contribute to positioning Klaipėda as an important logistics center.
