“This is a very honorable and somewhat unexpected award, which is probably not so much a personal recognition as it is an acknowledgment of Lithuanian science. It shows that scientific discoveries born here, at the Life Sciences Center of Vilnius University, are important not only in Lithuania but also in distant Japan,” the professor said in a statement released on Monday.
