Minister Edvinas Grikšas says that by simplifying public procurement, businesses and contracting authorities in the EU could save about 650 million euros per year.

“Public procurement accounts for about 15 percent of the EU’s gross domestic product and is one of the areas where the bureaucratic burden on businesses and institutions can be significantly reduced. It is estimated that due to simplified public procurement regulations alone, businesses across the EU could save about 570 million euros annually, and public procurement authorities – another 80 million euros,” the minister said in a statement.
