The representative of the occupying country in New York has been simply unstoppable in recent seasons – she became champion in 2024 and 2025, and came into this final with a 20-win streak.
Although A. Sabalenka managed to snatch the decisive set a bit before the end of the game, during the third set J. Rybakina was simply unstoppable – she broke her opponent’s serve twice, while losing only three points on her own serve.
The Kazakhstani tennis player has now won Wimbledon (2022), the Australian Open (2026), and the US Open once each, and the only thing missing for a career Grand Slam is a triumph on clay in Paris.
Having won 10 matches out of 18 against WTA ranking leaders in her career, J. Rybakina is just one of three tennis players, along with Steffi Graf and Serena Williams, to have a positive record.
The 27-year-old tennis player, who is having a fantastic season, will soon be able to enjoy the sweet fruits of hard work – on Monday, in the new WTA ranking, she will surpass the Belarusian and reach the top of the WTA ranking for the first time, ending A. Sabalenka’s 99-week dominance.
The US Open champion will receive not only 2000 WTA ranking points but also an impressive prize worth 5.5 million US dollars.
The tennis player who lost in the final earned a total of 1300 WTA ranking points and 2.8 million US dollars. For the Belarusian, this was already the fifth lost Grand Slam final out of nine.
