“It’s not about words. It doesn’t matter what I say to him or what he wants to say to me. That doesn’t matter. Only the result matters. The result is everything. That’s all,” he said.

Washington recently sought to renew long-stalled efforts to end the fifth year of the Russia-Ukraine war. Last weekend, US negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner visited Moscow and Kyiv.

V. Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump also discussed the war last week during a one-hour phone call, which the Kremlin described as “very frank” and constructive.

In an interview on Friday, V. Zelensky emphasized that the visit by S. Witkoff and J. Kushner was a “good signal,” and that the fact they visited both Kyiv and Moscow is important.

This year, the US chairs the G20 group, which consists of 19 countries, the European Union, and the African Union.

In early September, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov was welcomed at the G20 meeting in North Carolina, which caused dissatisfaction among Ukraine’s allies in Europe.

Additionally, a Russian diplomat indicated on Saturday that Moscow will send several officials to the G20 energy meeting in Houston next week.
