The advance premiere of „Divorce During the War“ attracted a crowd of well-known guests who gathered on a warm autumn evening at Vilnius Paupys’ “Pasaka.” Here, they were the first to see the love drama filling theaters in New York, Los Angeles, and other cities.
Besides Edita Mildažytė and Saulius Pilinkus, the screening was attended by TV show hosts Dovilė Filmanavičiūtė, Ignas Krupavičius, Kristupas Naraškevičius, producer and content creator Artur Lebedenko, artist Jolita Vaitkutė, director and online content creator Marius Pocevičius-Munis, comedian Airidas Jankus, TikToker Edvinas Malakauskas, and others. The dramatic divorce story of the main characters – advertising agency project manager Marija and director Vytas – was very recognizable and realistic to many. However, as in the world, so in Lithuania, different themes resonate with viewers.

R. Kulvinskytė admitted that there were scenes in the film during which she didn’t even breathe. “It was so close and painfully recognizable. As the film’s director says, we are not angels, we are not perfect, and that is normal,” says the well-known woman.
The director mixed a masterful cocktail
D. Filmanavičiūtė recommends this film to everyone who has children – it is a reminder of what kind of world we can leave them and why we must behave more responsibly with each other. “During the film, I started thinking about my marriage and how not to pretend to be better or someone I am not, how to maintain a value backbone. The director mixed a masterful cocktail that just explodes, and after the film, you want to talk about many things,” says the marketing professional and TV show host.
I. Krupavičius recognized himself in many situations in the film; he was also touched by divorces. According to the TV host, even in the darkest dreams, as on the battlefield, humor can save you. “I think that after surviving many years, like the film’s heroes, all that remains is to make dinner, sit at the table, and talk about your feelings. Of course, jokingly,” smiles I. Krupavičius.
The drama that captivated US moviegoers and Lithuania’s Oscar contender – „Divorce During the War“ – will be in Lithuanian cinemas from September 18.
