This year’s festival theme is an open museum for everyone: families, youth, seniors, students, teachers, and anyone who wants not only to observe art but also to experience, explore, and discover it in their own way. During the festival, we also invite you to visit LNDM museums in Vilnius for free.

LNDM is one of the leaders in museum education in Lithuania, annually inviting children and adults to hundreds of sessions where learning happens through art and creativity. According to the Ministry of Culture, in 2025 more than 55 thousand people participated in LNDM educational sessions – the highest number among all museums in the country.
“An open museum begins not at the door, but with the question: can I be who I am here? We want people to discover the museum as an open resource: here art inspires, relaxes, expands imagination, and teaches creative dialogue. EDUFESTAS is an opportunity to experience this all together – for families, youth, teachers, and those visiting the museum for the first time,” says Jolanta Marcišauskytė-Jurašienė, Deputy Director General of LNDM for exhibitions and education.
Museum education village under the open sky
At EDUFESTAS, visitors of all ages will find creative workshops, art experiments, interactive activities, and the chance to get acquainted with the educational practices, themes, and creative methods of different LNDM departments. Each educator’s space will open a unique museum world where visitors become active participants rather than observers.
Both festival days will immerse visitors in a whirlpool of discovery and creativity, but each day will have its own focus. The first day, “Explore,” will be dedicated to acquaintance, discoveries, and exploration – this direction will be strengthened by the activities of the festival’s friends “Artscape” and the association “Creative Connections.” The second day, “Inspire,” will focus more on creativity and invite participants to recharge creative energy and gain inspiration for the new school year.
The festival will bring together LNDM educators from museum departments operating in different Lithuanian cities: Vilnius Picture Gallery, National Gallery of Art, Museum of Applied Arts and Design, Radvilos Palace Art Museum, Vytautas Kasiulis Art Museum, Pranas Gudynas Restoration Center, and in Klaipėda, the Pranas Domšaitis Gallery and Clock Museum, as well as the Palanga Amber Museum. Their activities will show how many different and engaging ways the museum offers to experience art and reveal the contemporary museum as an open and lively cultural space.
A festival created together with the community
An open museum begins with connection to people whose experiences, needs, and relationship with culture are different. This connection is helped by EDUFESTAS friends – the arts agency “Artscape” and the association “Creative Connections.” “Artscape” helps the museum open up to refugee and migrant communities, while “Creative Connections” strengthens dialogue with young people, teachers, and students. At the festival, this collaboration will turn into creative activities, discussions, and new forms of meeting in the museum.

On September 19 from 12 to 14, “Artscape” educator Nikolajus Urencevas will invite children from 6 years old to create badges inspired by art and museum souvenirs, and on September 20 from 12 to 14, educator Marija Laenko will make magical talismans for the new school year with children aged 6–10 – small ornaments reminding of courage, friendship, and self-confidence.
On September 19 at 13:00, “Creative Connections” will invite to a discussion “Uncomfortable Young Voice,” where students, specialists working with them, and creators well known to youth will consider who should decide what kind of cultural education experience for young people is meaningful – adults or the participants themselves? At 14:30, the “Horizon Europe” project CLiViE exhibition will be presented, interactively revealing the experiences of seven European countries and the research results on the impact of cultural education on children, youth, and communities.
At 15:00, the program will continue with workshops “Creating a Young Voice” by actress and dancer Modesta Jakeliūnaitė. Participants will explore their experiences, identify cultural needs, and create ideas that can inspire the culture and education community. The workshops are recommended for youth from 14 years old.
The courtyard of the Chodkiewicz Palace will become a lively meeting place during the festival days, where creativity will intertwine with communication and sharing discoveries. Thus, EDUFESTAS will strengthen the connection between the museum and the community, inviting visitors not only to get acquainted with its activities but also to contribute to creating a shared festive experience.
Festival participants will not go hungry – food and drinks will be sold in the courtyard, and museum souvenirs will be available as a memento of the visit. The festival is pet-friendly.
