The first Lithuanian victory at the World Disc Golf Championship in Vilnius

The Lithuanian team in the “Open” division started the championship with a 3:5 loss to the Czech Republic. On Wednesday, in the second round, the Lithuanians 6:2 defeated Colombia and secured their first victory in the tournament.

In singles matches, victories were achieved by Linas Strelkauskas, who defeated his opponent by 9 points, and Tautvydas Gylys, who won by 6 points.

In doubles competitions, Andrius Timofejevas and Mireta Kievienė also defeated their opponents by 9 points. Domas Šimkūnas and Guoda Čaikinienė lost their match by a minimal margin.

In the third round, the Lithuanian “Open” team lost 3:5 to Germany. L. Strelkauskas won his singles match by 2 points, while T. Gylys drew with his opponent.

Both Lithuanian doubles pairs suffered defeats. A. Timofejevas and M. Kievienė lost by 5 points, and D. Šimkūnas and G. Čaikinienė by 3 points.

So after three rounds, the Lithuanian “Open” team has one win and two losses. The Lithuanians have 2 points and are in 16th place in the overall standings.

In the “Masters” division, the Lithuanian team drew 4:4 with Germany on the first day of the championship, earning their first point.

On Wednesday, in the second round, the Lithuanians lost 2:6 to France, and in the third round, with the same score – 2:6 – they lost to Denmark.

In the match against the Danes, the only Lithuanian victory was by Mindaugas Motiejaitis, who won his match by an 18-point margin. However, Miroslavas Jurgelevičius lost his match by the same deficit.

In doubles competitions, Mindaugas Likas and Oksana Žukauskienė also lost by 18 points, while Darius Žukauskas and Sigita Puišienė lost by a minimal margin.

After three rounds, the Lithuanian “Masters” team had not yet won a match – they have one draw and two losses. The Lithuanians have 1 point and are ranked 17th in the tournament table.
