Apple is stepping into a niche but growing market currently dominated by Samsung. However, Apple director John Ternus stated that most foldable phones currently on the market look like “two phones awkwardly joined into one.”

Meanwhile, the foldable iPhone Duo screen will be about the size of a passport.
“When unfolded, Duo users will have a seamless 7.6-inch screen that can be used both vertically and horizontally. It will also be the thinnest iPhone Apple has ever made,” the presentation stated.
The phone controls – the home bar and status indicators – will be located on the right side of the iPhone Duo screen, not at the bottom. This will make it easier for users to reach and control them with their thumbs.
Apple demonstrated many ways to utilize the seamless 7.6-inch screen that can be folded in half.
Users will be able to use two apps simultaneously by splitting the screen into two parts. In apps like Safari, it will be possible to browse two windows at the same time. Apple demonstrated how this feature can be used, for example, to compare different products before purchasing them.
Apple also showed how the new iPhone can be used partially folded. The phone can be placed on a table or other flat surface to watch videos without holding the device in hand. The company also demonstrated how the folded iPhone can stand all night and be used as an alarm clock, “able to wake you up with gentle light.”

Various uses of the large screen were also highlighted – from video editing to new Netflix features allowing users to scroll content vertically similar to the TikTok feed.
The price will be much higher than a regular iPhone
The foldable iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 (about 1700 euros) – the price for the base foldable phone version with 256 GB of storage.
There will be four storage options – up to 2 TB. According to Apple’s website, larger storage will increase the price of the most expensive model by another $2,000, making its price up to $3,199 (about 2700 euros).
Buyers will be able to pre-order the phone starting October 16. It will be available in stores on October 23.
