The first Lithuanian to lead his coached team to the Champions League, V. Dambrauskas, will soon make his debut on the brightest stage of European football.

The Azerbaijani champions will play their first match at the legendary “Old Trafford” stadium, known as the “theatre of dreams,” where 74,000 spectators will have their eyes on V. Dambrauskas and his team.
Despite “Man Utd” being considered clear favorites of the duel, M. Carrick, who has been at the helm of the team since last season, spoke respectfully about the opponent and their coach.
“They are a very well-trained team that has won many matches and plays with confidence,” said the 45-year-old Englishman. “They use team pressing excellently, so we know who we will be playing against.”

Like V. Dambrauskas, M. Carrick has almost no experience coaching a team in the Champions League. He temporarily took charge of “Man Utd” in 2021 and worked in one prestigious tournament match (a 2-0 away win against “Villarreal”), but this time he will coach a team at “Old Trafford” stadium for the first time.
However, M. Carrick himself played in the Champions League for many years and became its winner in 2008 representing “Manchester United”.
