The match will start at 18:45, and the Lithuanian Football Federation announces that entry will be free.

The October 9 match will also be accompanied by a special Lithuanian women’s national team campaign “Lithuanian Women Make History,” inviting fans to become part of this historic evening.

For the Lithuanian team coached by Tomas Ražanauskas, this will be another historic step – the first knockout match of the World Cup qualifiers and the first appearance in the renovated Darius and Girėnas Stadium.

“This meeting will undoubtedly become a historic performance for our women’s national team. For the first time, the team will play in the renovated Kaunas Darius and Girėnas Stadium and face extraordinary opponents – the elite Swedish national team, which regularly participates in European and World Championships and fights for the top positions.

Although a very tough battle awaits our girls on the field, on this special occasion we set an ambitious goal – to fill the stands of the Darius and Girėnas Stadium. We believe that strong fan support can become an additional stimulus for the players.

We decided to make entry to this match free so that this event would be accessible to everyone and fans from all over the country could gather and support our footballers,” said LFF president Edgaras Stankevičius.

The Lithuanian team earned the historic right to continue fighting for the World Cup in June. Over six group stage matches, the Lithuanian women collected 11 points, took first place, and for the first time in the country’s history reached the knockout stage of the World Cup qualifiers. This result also ensured the Lithuanian team’s promotion from Division C to Division B in the next Nations League cycle.

In the first knockout stage, Lithuania will face Sweden in a two-match duel. The first meeting will take place in Kaunas on October 9, and the return match will be played in Sweden on October 13.

On the evening of October 9, fans at the Darius and Girėnas Stadium will enjoy more than just football. A fan zone with entertainment and various activations will be set up near the stadium, food and drinks will be available for purchase, and a special program is planned during the match itself.

Free tickets for the Lithuania vs. Sweden women’s national team match will be available from September 14 at 10 a.m. through the “Kakava.lt” system.

The Lithuania vs. Sweden match will also kick off an exceptional football weekend in Kaunas – on October 11, the LFF Cup final will take place at the Darius and Girėnas Stadium, where Kretinga’s “Minija” will face “Kauno Žalgiris.”
