“We believe that greater use of cash simply contributes to increasing the shadow economy, which we intend to reduce (…). Currently, our gap (unaccounted economy – BNS) from GDP is 13 percent, we want to reduce it to no more than 10 percent in the next two years, and by 2028 we want to have no more than a 9 percent gap from GDP, and measures such as the use of cash certainly do not contribute to that,” Minister Taurimas Valys told journalists on Wednesday in Klaipėda.
