Last month, after attracting attention for their six-year relationship, the twins responded to critics and defended their unusual lifestyle. The 35-year-old sisters claim that each of them is in a relationship with 43-year-old farmer Maycon, which they describe as a typical husband and wife relationship, reports “The Sun”.

The only difference is that some nights he is with one of the twins, and other nights with the other; they all live together in a shared house in Montividiu, in the southwestern state of Goiás (central Brazil). Laila said that she was hurt by the taunts and condemnation appearing online, but she stopped reading comments to protect herself and her family.
She said: “We share the same man, but there are no forbidden things or what people imagine here. Wherever we go – we respect others, and others respect us.” The twin sisters live on different floors of the same two-story house: Laila on the upper floor, and Lara (who was crowned “Rodeo Queen” at this year’s “Expo Montividiu” exhibition) on the lower floor. The twins emphasized that they have no romantic or intimate relationship with each other.
Lara said: “One night with me, and the next with her.” However, this arrangement sparked mixed reactions online – one Instagram user asked: “What’s the point of having two identical women?” Another sarcastically commented: “God, homeland, and the traditional Brazilian Christian family, right?!” There were also defenders of the trio, writing: “They are beautiful, and everyone can live as they want,” and: “If they are happy – that’s enough.”
Lara said that six years ago, when their relationship began, they also attracted curious looks, but emphasized that relatives on both sides always supported them. She said: “No one ever came up and said anything to our faces, but we felt it. On the other hand, from the very beginning, all family members – both his and ours – warmly accepted this relationship.”
Initially, the couple consisted of Lara and Maycon; they dated for two years before eventually breaking up. Later, Maycon started a relationship with Laila – this relationship has lasted about 13 years. Four years after Lara and Maycon broke up, Laila suggested that all three of them build a relationship together.

Lara recalled initially rejecting the idea and saying: “She asked if I still had feelings for him, and I said yes. Then she suggested: ‘Why don’t the three of us live together?’ At first, I said: ‘No, you’re crazy. Nothing will come of this.’ But we tried until we finally accepted it.”
Laila admitted that the initial stage of living as a threesome was difficult and accompanied by jealousy, but added that over time they created a suitable daily life model. Maycon said that most people were more curious about how such a relationship model works (which is not legally recognized as a stable union in Brazil) than openly hostile.
He said: “Most people are just curious about how it all works. I never thought I would become famous because of it. Of course, we get criticism, but that’s normal when relationships don’t meet usual standards.”
Maycon has children with each of the sisters: an eleven-year-old son with Laila and a five-year-old son with Lara. They all also have children from previous relationships, although only Lara’s daughter lives with them. Currently, all three children live in the family home.
Maycon said: “I know many people find this strange and ask how it can work, but it works perfectly for us. We are very happy.”
