“Ukrainian non-commissioned officers bring what cannot be learned just in exercises or read in manuals – real battlefield experience. They share the latest tactical changes on the front, experience in the use of drones and robotic systems, changes in the training of soldiers and non-commissioned officers, adaptation of individual equipment, and other solutions constantly changed by battlefield reality,” said the army commander General Raimundas Vaikšnoras in a statement.
“Our task is to listen, learn, and apply these lessons in the Lithuanian army as quickly as possible,” he added.
The seminar of senior non-commissioned officers of the Lithuanian and Ukrainian armies was first held in Lithuania in 2017, and this year it is taking place for the sixth time; last year this initiative was renewed.

According to the army, this is a bilateral military cooperation format focusing mainly on the non-commissioned officer corps and practical experience exchange. The Ukrainian army has chosen Lithuania as the main bilateral cooperation direction in the non-commissioned officer field. This format of the Lithuanian and Ukrainian seminar is unique among NATO countries and Ukraine.
It is announced that this year’s seminar focuses mainly on adapting the training of soldiers and non-commissioned officers to the changes of war, individual soldier clothing and equipment, the use of unmanned and robotic systems, and other lessons learned on the battlefield.
It is indicated that during the visit, Ukrainian non-commissioned officers will visit different Lithuanian army units according to their service and professional fields, where they will directly exchange experience with Lithuanian soldiers, get acquainted with the applied training and operational methods, and discuss which battlefield-tested solutions could be applied in the Lithuanian army.
