This issue has become particularly relevant given Russia’s threats to carry out new massive air strikes against Ukraine, including government buildings.
It is noted that the shortage of anti-missile missiles will affect NATO’s combat readiness planning, considering assessments of the increasing Russian threat to Europe.

According to analysts, the problem arose due to many factors. These include cost-cutting, incorrect assumptions in long-term defense planning and procurement, as well as the failure to anticipate the risk that in the event of a US and Israeli war with Iran, the countries could continue to launch missiles at their Gulf neighbors for a long time.
Currently, the Patriot is considered the best defense against high-altitude ballistic missiles. Although there are air defense systems in Europe, they are far inferior to the American ones in this regard.
The shortage of missiles for Patriot systems creates a “window of vulnerability” not only for Ukraine but also for other countries that depend on the United States. The Patriot is widely used by US allies, including the Gulf countries. This system is used by Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, and Sweden.
