At the exhibition “I Will Miss This” opened at the Prienai Culture and Leisure Center, Ž. Kazlauskaitė presents acrylic paintings in which places seen and experienced in reality, moments of everyday life, and motifs born in imagination and dreams intertwine, according to a press release.

Everything is memories
“We look at the setting sun, the darkening sky, the window, the house standing in the distance, or the ship frozen in the water, and at that very moment we realize – this view will never be exactly the same again. The light will change, the clouds will move, the person will leave, summer will end. What is still before our eyes has already become a memory,” says Ž. Kazlauskaitė.
It is precisely in these transient states that her very personal painting is born, which at the same time allows people to see their own stories and inner experiences.
In the paintings of Ž. Kazlauskaitė, who was born, raised, and creates in Prienai, the sky, windows, trees, mountains, buildings, ships, or distant silhouettes convey not specific places but the artist’s perspective and the feelings experienced at that time.
What we do not notice in everyday life
The artist is interested in moments that may seem insignificant at first glance.
The fall of light on a building wall. The evening sky darkened by approaching rain. The quiet part of a room seen through a window. A space where a person may not be visible, but their presence is still felt.
The artist consciously turns to what we do not notice in the rush of everyday life.
In her paintings, not only the image is important but also the accompanying state – calmness, loneliness, melancholy, a sense of inevitability.
It is a kind of visual diary that preserves not only how the world looked but also how it felt to be in it, says the artist.
Crossing the boundaries of everyday life
One of the recurring motifs in Ž. Kazlauskaitė’s work is the sky. Constantly changing, never exactly the same, it becomes a space of beauty, mystery, and transience for the artist.
In the artist’s imagination, the sky has been associated since childhood with what transcends the boundaries of everyday life – death, eternity, that which we cannot fully understand. Therefore, in Ž. Kazlauskaitė’s works, it can be romantic, threatening, and soothing.
The window becomes another important boundary – between inside and outside, between the person and the world, between what we allow to be seen and what we keep to ourselves, the artist explains.
Returned to her path
The exhibition “I Will Miss This” also marks an important boundary in her own creative journey.
Drawing and painting have accompanied Ž. Kazlauskaitė since childhood, but in recent years, creativity has turned from a long-nurtured hobby into a consciously chosen life path.
After completing interior design studies and searching for a space where she could realize herself for a long time, the artist returned to what had always been close – painting.
Ž. Kazlauskaitė’s exhibition “I Will Miss This” will be on display at the Prienai Culture and Leisure Center until September 30.
