The new organizational structure was created focusing on three main goals: strengthening strategic activity directions, smoother customer journey, and employee expertise.

“Ambitious goals alone are not enough for the competitiveness of the Lithuanian economy – institutions are needed to help implement them effectively. We expect the Innovation Agency to have a growing focus on results and efficient use of state resources.
The most important thing is that Lithuanian business feels the changes, that it receives quality services and more support in increasing operational productivity, implementing innovations, or growing in international markets,” says the Minister of Economy and Innovation Edvinas Grikšas.
Changes are necessary to implement the strategy
According to the head of the Innovation Agency, Monika Paulė, structural changes will affect the entire organization.
“Our new strategy sets the ambition to significantly contribute to the growth of Lithuania’s economic competitiveness by increasing company productivity, accelerating innovation implementation, and growing high value-added exports. To ensure these are not empty words, we must ensure that the organization is capable of implementing them. Therefore, we clarified responsibilities, reduced fragmentation, simplified and accelerated the provision of assistance and services to Lithuanian businesses,” says M. Paulė.

The agency’s activities will be divided into two parts: content and administration. Content departments will be formed according to strategic activity directions. This will allow clearer distribution of responsibilities and reduce function duplication. Administrative departments will manage all funding instruments and ensure smooth organizational operations.
Special attention – to increasing company productivity
With the updated operating model, cooperation with clients and partners will become simpler and more consistent, with clearer responsibility centers.
The restructuring will affect almost all departments and their sections – some will be eliminated, some merged, and new ones will also appear. Some of the agency’s divisions and their leaders will change. Some leadership positions will be filled by employees already working in the organization who have accumulated competencies and will ensure continuity of organizational experience.
The main mission of the Innovation Agency remains unchanged – to create value for Lithuanian business, the innovation ecosystem, and the state, and to contribute to Lithuania’s economic competitiveness. The agency will continue to focus on innovation and export growth, with special attention given to increasing the productivity of Lithuanian companies.
