„Orlen“ considers acquiring up to 45% of the shares of the Polish defense group

The Minister of State Assets Wojciech Balczunas announced the intention to restructure the portfolio of companies managed by the State Treasury and also stated that PGZ will be strengthened. According to unofficial information, about 40–45% of PGZ shares could be taken over by Orlen, reports the portal wnp.pl.

“Part of the strategy is the restructuring of the State Treasury’s company portfolio to achieve greater synergy. During this process, actions are planned in the coming and subsequent years, where one State Treasury company will take over others to implement strategic goals,” W. Balczunas said at the end of August during a joint press conference with the Minister of Finance and Economy Andrzej Domanski.

He also announced that the government plans to significantly strengthen the PGZ company.

“We would like to arrange the shareholder structure of PGZ so that companies that increase the value of PGZ and at the same time serve as an important pillar of reliability assurance appear in it,” he said.

According to unofficial data from the XYZ portal, preparations are underway at the Ministry of State Assets to sell part of the PGZ shares. About 40–45% of PGZ shares should be sold to investors.

Currently, the State Treasury directly controls 71.36% of PGZ shares. The remaining shares are controlled by other state institutions: Polish Defence Holding holds 14.82%, and the Industrial Development Agency holds 13.82%.
