Race Progress
Pierre Gasly, who started the race from pole position, maintained the lead through the first corners. Behind him and George Russell, more interesting events unfolded, where Charles Leclerc pushed his Ferrari teammate Lewis Hamilton off the track limits. The Briton dropped to eighth place.
Things quickly turned against Leclerc when he lost control of his car at high speed and crashed into the barriers. Initially, there was a safety car phase, followed shortly by a red flag. Meanwhile, Russell overtook Gasly, and Kimi Antonelli, who started from the back of the grid, rose to 12th place.
After the race restart, misfortune struck another Alpine driver, Franco Colapinto, who, while in third position, went off into the gravel and dropped to 15th place.
Antonelli continued to climb, and after a few laps, he rose to 5th place, while Gasly, who had been among the race leaders, fell back.
At the start of the pack, Verstappen tried to overtake Russell. He managed to do so, but on the 16th lap, Antonelli outsmarted the Dutchman, reaching second place. The Mercedes drivers fought for a long time until the team intervened, ordering them to stop.

On the 29th lap, Verstappen and Antonelli took their chance to pit, their teams seeing an opportunity during the virtual safety car phase. This was triggered by Lance Stroll’s withdrawal from the Grand Prix. This maneuver benefited Antonelli, who after a fierce battle, managed to break Russell, who had not been called to the pits since the start of the race.
In the middle of the top ten, a battle took place where Piastri was the strongest, and untouched Verstappen took the last spot on the winners’ podium.
Fifth place was taken by Lando Norris, who lost to Piastri, sixth was Hamilton, and seventh was Alpine driver Gasly.
The top ten was completed by Arvid Lindblad, Franco Colapinto, and Yuki Tsunoda, who briefly took over the Racing Bulls car.
With this victory, K. Antonelli increased his lead in the championship standings to 66 points.
