In the second period, the visitors took advantage of two power plays and took the initiative, although Artem Redko, who scored for the Vilnius team, did not allow the opponents to pull away far.
In the third period, the Riga team further increased the gap, and in the final minutes, Otto Karvinen, who scored his second goal, only softened the deficit to a minimum.
“After the first game, sad thoughts arise because the team actively prepared since summer and really wanted to start with a win. However, a minimal loss is not very disappointing because a long season awaits, in which everything can be decided by just one puck,” said the team captain Rokas Bacevičius after the game.
