„I spoke with the head of the SBU, Oleksandr Poklad. Unfortunately, a Russian drone hit the central SBU building on Volodymyr Street in Kyiv, opposite St. Sophia’s Cathedral,“ noted the President of Ukraine.
An AFP news agency correspondent near the scene saw ambulances standing by.
Emergency services are working at the scene. All those affected will be provided with the necessary assistance.
„The drone was directed straight at the SBU chief’s office in this building. I instructed Poklad to respond adequately, noticeably, and, if possible, in a mirrored manner to the Russians for this strike as soon as everything is ready,“ added V. Zelensky.
5 people injured
According to sources from “Ukrainska Pravda,” the official was not in his office at the moment of the strike.
According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, at least five people were injured during the attack.

A photo published by the news portal “Ukrainska Pravda” shows black smoke pouring from at least two windows of the building, with a fire truck standing outside.
In recent weeks, Russia has intensified its daytime strikes against Ukraine, sometimes using jet drones that are harder for air defense to destroy.
Sybiha responded
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrijus Sybiha condemned the Russian drone attack on Friday, targeting the SBU chief’s office.
„Russia’s attack on the headquarters of Ukraine’s security service is a major escalation requiring decisive retaliatory actions,“ Sybiha said on social media.
„Moscow carried out this strike while renewing efforts to seek peace – thus revealing its true rejection of diplomacy,“ he said.
