At night, “one of the main WHO warehouses in the Kyiv region, where humanitarian medical supplies and equipment were stored, was hit by an airstrike,” WHO representative Christian Lindmeier told journalists in Geneva.
“Access to the site remains limited due to thick smoke and security issues, and the assessment of possible damage and stock losses is ongoing,” he said.
No WHO staff were injured, he added.
“These attacks are part of a broader trend that will affect humanitarian operations across the country,” said Ch. Lindmeier.
“In 2026, at least 20 attacks targeted warehouses storing humanitarian aid supplies, including 15 attacks on warehouses with healthcare humanitarian stocks,” he noted.
The press representative said that in the past three months, three WHO-used warehouses in different regions of Ukraine were damaged by airstrikes. Essential medical supplies intended for the front line and hard-to-reach areas were destroyed during these attacks.
Two weeks ago, a humanitarian aid warehouse in Dnipro was destroyed in an attack, resulting in the loss of half of the medical supplies and equipment intended to help about 225,000 people.

Another WHO-used warehouse in the Kyiv region was damaged during a large-scale wave of attacks on the capital and surrounding region in July, the press representative said.
Ch. Lindmeier added: “As far as I understand, deconfliction has been achieved for all warehouses, all UN sites, all WHO sites,” meaning their locations have been clearly communicated to all parties in the armed conflict.
WHO monitors and records attacks on healthcare facilities but does not assign blame, as it is not an investigative agency.
The United Nations (UN) agency in Ukraine has confirmed more than 3,000 attacks since the start of Russia’s large-scale invasion in February 2022.
Healthcare facilities and the entire healthcare system are protected under international law.
